UR17G-1300 OVERVIEW
Key Features:
- Gigabit Ethernet at the tool flange: An M12 X-coded connector gives 1 gigabit Ethernet at the wrist. Cameras and smart tools send data to the controller without a long cable along the arm.
- Tool power up to 48 Vdc: The M8 power connector supplies 24 or 48 Vdc, with 3 A continuous and 5 A peak for 2 seconds. This supports higher power grippers and tools.
- Tool I/O connector: The M8 8 pin I/O connector gives 2 digital inputs, 2 digital outputs and 2 analog inputs, with 12 or 24 Vdc supply. One analog pair can work as RS-485.
- Integrated force-torque sensor: The tool flange senses force up to ± 150.0 N and torque up to ± 10.0 Nm in x, y and z. This helps with force controlled tasks such as insertion and finishing.
- IP65 protection: The arm is rated IP65, so it handles dusty areas and splashing liquid better than lower rated arms.
- 5 m/s maximum TCP speed: All 6 joints rotate ± 360°, and the wrist joints turn up to ± 300°/s.
- 23 configurable safety functions: Safety is certified by TÜV Rheinland to EN ISO 13849-1 and EN ISO 10218-1. A light ring at the robot base shows the robot status.
- SP7 Smart Panel interface: The tool flange has an interface for the optional SP7 Smart Panel, so operators can teach the robot at the end of the arm.
Benefits:
- Handle heavier parts: The 17.5 kg maximum payload covers the gripper and the part together, so one cobot can take over heavier manual handling jobs.
- Fewer cable problems: With Ethernet, power and I/O at the tool flange, there is no long tool cable along the arm to tangle, wear out or stop production.
- Ready for AI vision: Gigabit Ethernet at the wrist lets an arm mounted camera stream high resolution images for inspection and 3D picking.
- Fits into tight cells: The Ø204 mm footprint and mounting in any orientation let you install the robot on a table, wall, ceiling or machine.
- Works beside your operators: 23 configurable safety functions let the robot share space with people after a risk assessment.
Applications:
- Machine tending: 17.5 kg maximum payload and IP65 suit loading and unloading of heavier parts at CNC machines.
- Palletising: 17.5 kg maximum payload and 1300 mm reach suit stacking cartons at the end of the line.
- AI vision inspection: Gigabit Ethernet at the tool flange streams images from an arm mounted camera.
- 3D vision picking: Ethernet and power at the wrist connect a 3D camera and gripper without a long external cable.
- Screwdriving and assembly: The integrated force-torque sensor and 48 Vdc tool power support powered tools and force controlled insertion.
- Sanding and polishing: The force-torque sensor helps keep a steady contact force on the part surface.
- Packaging: 5 m/s maximum TCP speed and 1300 mm reach suit case packing and transfer between conveyors.
IS THE UR17G-1300 RIGHT FOR YOUR JOB?
The Universal Robots g-Series is not built to lift more. It is built to connect more at the tool. The UR17g-1300 brings Ethernet, power and safety inputs to the tool flange, so a camera or tool connects at the wrist instead of through a long cable along the arm.
What Gen 7 Brings, and What Is g-Series Only
| Part | What it gives you | Works with |
| CB7 controller, TP7 teach pendant, PolyScope X software | More I/O, 3 gigabit Ethernet ports and the new programming platform | g-Series, e-Series and UR Series arms |
| Tool flange with Ethernet, power and safety inputs | Cameras, sensors and higher power tools connect at the wrist | g-Series arms only |
| SP7 Smart Panel (optional) | Teach at the tool with Freedrive and 3 programmable buttons | g-Series arms only |
If you mainly want the new controller, an e-Series arm can also run on the CB7. Choose the g-Series when your job needs the new tool flange.
Jobs That Need the g-Series
- Camera on the arm: The job streams high resolution video from an arm mounted camera back to the controller, for AI vision, inspection or 3D picking.
- Tight spaces: The arm works inside a car body or a cramped machine, where an external cable can catch or get damaged.
- Full use of g-Series features: The job uses the tool cable, tool power and SP7 Smart Panel together, so the features justify the investment.
Jobs Where the e-Series Is Enough
- An external tool cable causes no problem in the job.
- Straightforward pick and place.
- The camera is fixed above the cell, not mounted on the arm.
Why External Cables Matter
- Wear and noise: Cables along the arm can get tangled, get damaged and make abnormal noise.
- Limited wrist rotation: An external cable limits how far the wrist can turn. A tool connected at the flange has no such limit.
- Unplanned stops: A damaged external cable stops production, and replacing it needs a skilled person.
Good to Know
- Short tool cable: A short cable from the camera or tool to the flange connector is still needed. What goes away is the long cable along the arm.
- No air passage: The tool flange has no air passage. Pneumatic or vacuum grippers still need an external air hose along the arm.
