Essential Functions. Done Well.

Epson describes the LA6 as essential functionality and a smart choice for parts transfer. It moves parts quickly between fixed points, fits in a small space, and runs the same software as Epson's higher end robots.

Fast Parts Transfer

The LA6 moves parts up to 6 kg from point to point. With the 500 mm arm, Epson lists a standard cycle time of 0.396 seconds. On the 700 mm arm, joints 1 and 2 reach up to 7450 mm per second.

Three Reaches, Two Environments

Choose a 500, 600 or 700 mm arm to match your work area. Each comes in a Standard version or a Cleanroom version that meets ISO Class 4. The compact, low profile body mounts on a tabletop and saves space.

Same Epson RC+ Software

The LA6 runs on Epson RC+, the same software Epson uses across its SCARA and 6 axis robots. Its simple graphical screens are easy to learn, even for first time users.

Everything a Standalone Transfer Cell Needs

Many robot cells only move parts between fixed points. They do not need to track a conveyor, sense force, or share signals with many other machines.

Epson built the LA6 for straightforward applications that work on their own, with little interfacing to other equipment. Epson positions the LA series as a cost effective choice for this kind of work, with its RC800L controller covering what a standalone cell needs.

How an LA6 Cell Works

A standalone cell that runs on its own once the points are taught.

Standalone Jobs With Fixed Pick and Place Points

These applications suit the LA6 because each one runs as a standalone station with little interfacing to other equipment. Every job uses a gripper or suction tool, with its cables run outside the arm.

01
Tray to Tray Transfer

The robot picks parts from one tray and places them into another at fixed positions. There is no other machine to talk to, so the cell stays simple. The Cleanroom version suits electronics parts that must stay free of particles.

02
Stacking and Destacking

The robot builds or breaks down stacks of parts, trays or covers at fixed points. Joint 3 gives a 200 mm stroke on the Standard version for working at different stack heights. The job repeats the same motion all shift.

03
Packing Into Boxes or Blister Trays

The robot places parts into fixed pockets at a standalone packing station. Choose the arm length that covers your whole packing area. This suits consumer products and small components.

04
Light Insertion and Press Fit

The robot pushes pins, caps or small parts into place using the 100 N Joint 3 press force. Repeatability of plus or minus 0.01 mm on Joint 3 helps each insertion land at the same depth.

The Standard version uses a 200 mm Joint 3 stroke. The Cleanroom version uses a 170 mm Joint 3 stroke with bellows.

What Makes This System Work

  • Repeatability on Every Axis

Repeatability is plus or minus 0.02 mm on joints 1 and 2, plus or minus 0.01 mm on Joint 3, and plus or minus 0.01 degree on Joint 4. The robot returns to the same taught point cycle after cycle.

  • Speed for Each Arm Length

Standard cycle time is 0.396 sec (500 mm arm), 0.404 sec (600 mm) and 0.428 sec (700 mm). Epson measures it on a round trip arch motion of 300 mm horizontal and 25 mm vertical at rated payload. Joints 1 and 2 reach 6150, 6800 and 7450 mm per second for the same three arms.

  • Joint 3 Press Force and Stroke

Joint 3 delivers a press force of 100 N and moves at up to 1100 mm per second. The stroke is 200 mm on the Standard version and 170 mm with bellows on the Cleanroom version. Joint 4 turns at up to 2000 degrees per second.

  • RC800L Controller

The LA6 works with Epson's RC800L controller, which controls up to 4 axes. You program it with Epson RC+ software, the same platform used across Epson's SCARA and 6 axis range.

  • Cables and Power

Standard cables come in 3, 5, 10, 15 or 20 m, and flexible cables in 5, 10, 15 or 20 m. The robot runs on AC200 to 240 V single phase power, with a maximum rated capacity of 0.9 kVA. It carries CE and KCs marks.

Backed by Epson, the world's number one SCARA robot manufacturer.

Epson has more than 40 years of experience in precision automation and has sold over 150,000 robots worldwide.

FA Controls supplies and supports Epson robots in Malaysia, from choosing the right model to setting up your cell.

Check your tooling and interfaces first. The LA6 has no built in wires or air tubes for your tooling, so cables run outside the arm. Its RC800L controller has no conveyor tracking, force sensor input or expansion slots. If your cell needs these, ask us about the Epson LS series.

Built for Electronics and Assembly Manufacturers

The LA6 suits production teams that want to automate a standalone pick and place job. It fits factories in electronics, automotive parts, medical devices and consumer products.

Production Manager

You have operators doing the same transfer or packing job all shift. The LA6 takes over that repetitive work at a steady pace, so your team can move to tasks that need judgment.

Process Engineer

You need a robot that hits the same point every cycle without a complex setup. The LA6 gives you plus or minus 0.02 mm repeatability and a choice of three reaches to fit your layout.

Engineering Manager

You are planning a first SCARA cell and want to keep it simple. The LA6 runs Epson RC+ software, so your team learns one platform that also covers Epson's larger robots later.
