Epson Robot T3
A SCARA Robot With the
Controller Built In.
The Epson T3-B401S puts the robot and its controller in one unit, so your cell needs less space and fewer cables. 3 kg rated payload. 400 mm arm length. Runs on AC 100 to 240 V single phase power.
One Unit. Simple Setup. Less Upkeep.
Epson describes the T3 as an all in one model built for smarter installation and smarter costs. These three features make it easy to fit into a small cell and keep it running.
The controller sits inside the robot. You do not need to find space for a separate controller in the cell, and there is less cabling to route between robot and controller.
Epson places the I/O ports close to the end of the arm, including 24 V power. Your gripper or sensor connects near where it works, which keeps tooling wiring short and tidy.
The T3 uses a battery less encoder. Epson states this reduces maintenance, so your team has fewer routine tasks to schedule.
Robot and Controller in One Unit
A robot cell often needs room for a separate controller, plus cables running between the controller and the robot. In a crowded production line, that extra box and wiring take up space and add work during installation.
The T3 builds the controller into the robot itself. It runs on AC 100 to 240 V single phase power, and Epson positions the T series for cost efficient automation with a simple setup and a small footprint.
Four steps from delivery to a working pick and place cell.
- 1Mount the T3 on a tabletop in your cell.
- 2Connect AC 100 to 240 V single phase power.
- 3Connect your gripper to the I/O and air tubes near the arm.
- 4Program the job in Epson RC+ software and start production.
Where the T3 Fits on Your Line
The T3 suits light, repeating tasks within a 400 mm reach. These are common jobs where a 3 kg SCARA robot with a built in controller makes sense.
The T3 moves small parts from a feeder, tray or conveyor to a fixture or assembly point. Its repeatability of ±0.02 mm on joints 1 and 2 supports consistent placement. The compact all in one body fits well on a crowded workbench.
The T3 positions parts or a screw tool over each point in an assembly. The joint 3 press force of 83 N and the 150 mm Z stroke give room for light pressing and insertion moves. The I/O near the arm makes it simple to connect the tool.
The T3 loads parts into trays or takes finished parts out to the next station. The 400 mm arm length covers a typical tray area beside a machine. This frees operators from repetitive handling work.
The FZ version uses food grade grease on the Z axis, for work close to food products. It handles light items such as packed food or small portions in a dry area. The FZ model has no third party certification, so check your food safety requirements with FA Controls first.
Find Your T3 Model Number
Every T3 has a 3 kg rated payload, a 400 mm arm length and a 150 mm joint 3 stroke. Pick your installation environment below, and we will show you the exact model number to ask for.
The food grease (FZ) version uses food grade grease on the Z axis. Epson's specification sheet notes that the FZ model has no third party certification.
What Makes This System Work
-
Built In Controller
The controller is part of the robot body. Epson states this reduces installation space and cabling needs, which helps when floor and panel space are tight.
-
AC 100 to 240 V Single Phase Power
The T3 runs on AC 100 to 240 V single phase power, with a maximum rated capacity of 0.66 kVA. Epson also describes the T3 as having superior energy saving performance.
-
Repeatability of ±0.02 mm
Epson lists repeatability of ±0.02 mm for joints 1 and 2 and for joint 3, and ±0.02 deg for joint 4. This supports consistent placement of small parts, cycle after cycle.
-
Wiring and Air Tubes in the Arm
Hand I/O (IN6 and OUT4 on a D sub 15 pin) and User I/O (IN18 and OUT12) are built in. The arm also carries one ø4 mm and two ø6 mm air tubes, rated to 0.59 MPa, for your gripper.
-
Battery Less Encoder
The T3 uses a battery less encoder, which Epson states reduces maintenance. Maximum speed is 3700 mm/sec for joints 1 and 2, and the robot weighs 14 kg without cables.
Epson has more than 40 years of experience in precision automation, and over 150,000 Epson robots have been sold worldwide.
The T3 runs on Epson RC+, the same software platform used across Epson's SCARA and 6 axis robots. FA Controls supports your T3 project in Malaysia, from application review to setup.
Built for Electronics and Small Parts Manufacturers
The T3 suits production teams who want a first SCARA robot, or another robot cell, with a simple setup. It fits lines where space is limited and the parts are light.
You need to automate repetitive handling without a big project. The T3 gives you a compact robot cell with fewer parts to install, so your line gets running sooner.
You need consistent placement in a tight cell. The T3 gives you ±0.02 mm repeatability, I/O close to the tool and no separate controller to fit into the layout.
You want fewer routine tasks and fewer cables to troubleshoot. The battery less encoder and built in controller keep the T3 simple to look after.
